Roots of the contemporary Tygmont Jazz Club lie in one of the best student venues in Poland the Riviera-Remont Club. The Riviera-Remont had housed rock-front, jazz-club, theatre, Kwant film club, Riviera-Foto photographic workshop, Jazz Jamboree festival and the Chopin festivals. It has fostered many great talents active on the Polish cultural scene ever since.
A former director of the Riviera-Remont had a dream of opening his own jazz club. His dream came true in January 2001 when, at the opening of Tygmont, the best Polish jazz musicians played in front of the audience of 400 people.
Today, in spite of its young age, the Tygmont Club is recognized as a major jazz hub on the map of Poland. Fans of the club appreciate the high standard of music, good and reasonably priced food, the excellent selection of drinks and not least the free entry.
This club is also marked by a special event called Kociol Artystow (Artist's boiler) taking place every last Tuesday of the month. Painters, graphic designers and photographers take the stage to present their personal world visions - all this set to jazz music.
