The Piekarnia Club was set up in 1997. From its very beginning it was not an ordinary entertainment place. Among aims of Piekarnia staff stood also the promotion of club culture in Poland and support and development of local DJ scene. At first, club venues were mainly ethnic/world music, Asian break beat, acid jazz and big beat. With time, it has shifted more in direction of house and progressive sounds. Nevertheless, you can still hear funk, hip-hop, drum'n'bass or a break beat there.

In addition to organizing quality club nights, the Piekarnia Club also produces and distributes its own records. Club tries to show that Polish dance music is as good and interesting as foreign productions, especially the British music which dominates on the dance market.

In order to promote DJ culture, the Piekarnia runs its own up-and-coming DJ showcase night - Pierwsze Koty. After winning their heats, the best unknowns get the chance to play along leading Polish DJs, like Piekarnia's resident DJ Bert, who is also the showcase's promoter.

The Piekarnia Club is currently considered to be the most important promoter of club culture in Poland. Parties in this club have a special atmosphere and character. In its first six years, the club have hosted about 300 artists, both Polish and foreign, including international stars of the club scene.

The club is located in a former bakery, on the outskirts of Warsaw's city center. It has three areas: the main room, the garden (which is covered in winter), and the chill-out room. It's possible to throw parties on three different dance-floors at once. The club's interior created by famous polish artists and designers is warm and friendly.
